Users & roles

Add your team, give them the right access, and get on with the grooming. Users in Barkway are simple on purpose: two roles, fast setup, and controls that don’t get in your way.


Roles

  • Admin
    Full access to everything, including Settings and Users.

  • Groomer
    Can use the whole app except:

    • Users (can’t add/edit/deactivate users)
    • Settings (can’t change business, payments, notifications, etc.)

Everyone can view bookings, clients, pets, invoices, calendar, and use day-to-day features.


Add a user

  1. Go to Manage → Users.
  2. Click Add User.
  3. Fill in First/Last name, optional Display name, Email, and Default calendar view.
  4. Set Role (you can change it later).
  5. Create a password and Create User.

No invites, no waiting — users are created immediately.


Edit or deactivate a user

  • From Manage → Users, click the pencil icon beside a user.
  • Update their details, Role, or User Status.
  • Set User Status = Inactive to disable access (keep their history intact).
  • You can also Delete User if you really need to remove them.

There’s no limit on the number of users.


Profiles (self-service)

Every user can update their own stuff at Profile:

  • Photo, First/Last/Display name
  • Email (used for login & notifications)
  • Default calendar view (e.g., Week)
  • Change password

Calendars & assignment

  • Bookings can be assigned to a groomer.
  • The Groomer dropdown/filter appears on the calendar only if you have more than one user.

Good to know

  • Deactivating a user doesn’t delete their bookings or history.
  • Keep emails accurate — they’re used for login and notifications.
  • Promote/demote any time by switching Role on the user’s edit page.
