Deposits on file (client)
A deposit on file is money saved against a client, not a single booking. Barkway will automatically apply it to new bookings for that client - you can unselect it if you don’t want to use it this time.
How it works
- Set or update the amount from Clients → Edit Client.
- There’s one value per client - when used, it applies in full.
- On the booking form, Barkway selects the client’s deposit by default. Uncheck it if you want to keep it for later.
- The deposit appears in the price breakdown and reduces the remaining balance once marked Paid.
note
Card deposits via Stripe are not available yet. Coming soon.
Managing a client deposit
- Open Clients → Edit Client.
- Enable Save a deposit on this client’s account and enter the amount (fixed or %).
- Click Update Client.
- To refund/clear later, return to the same screen or use the booking’s invoice panel.
When it’s used
- On creating/editing a booking for that client, Barkway auto-applies the deposit.
- You can unselect it if you prefer to take/keep a booking-specific deposit instead.
Refunds
- Refunds are manual today. Do it from Edit Client or from the View Booking invoice panel.
- If you refunded outside Barkway, just adjust the client deposit amount to match reality.
