Updating a pet
Pets change over time — new quirks, health updates, or just a better glam shot. The Edit Pet page lets you keep their profile accurate and up to date.
Step-by-step
-
Open the pet From the Clients & Pets → Pets list (or via a client profile), click the pet’s name, then hit Edit.
-
Update the basics
- Change their Name, Breed(s), Sex, Age, or Weight.
- Update the linked Client if ownership has changed.
- Replace or remove their profile photo.
-
Adjust health & medical info
- Edit Temperament (e.g. calm → nervous).
- Update Allergies and Medical Conditions as needed.
-
Refresh grooming & vet info
- Set a new Last Groomed date.
- Update their Microchip Number.
- Change vet details if they’ve switched practices.
-
Update pet notes Keep quirks and reminders fresh — e.g.
- “Now tolerates the dryer”
- “Needs harness for walks to the salon”
-
Check booking history At the bottom, you’ll see their Booking History:
- Dates
- Status (Completed, Cancelled, etc.)
- Groomer
- Notes recorded at the time
This gives you quick context before the next appointment.
-
Save Click Update Pet to save changes and return to the Pets list.
Header actions
- New Booking – create an appointment for this pet directly from their profile.
- Delete Pet – removes the pet from Barkway. (Careful — this cannot be undone.)
Pro tips
- Keep Last Groomed dates current — they power recall reminders and reports.
- Use Booking Notes for one-off session info; keep recurring quirks in Pet Notes so they carry forward.
- Delete pets only if they’re genuinely no longer needed — history is lost when you remove them.
🐾 With the Edit Pet screen, Barkway makes sure every furry friend’s profile stays accurate, useful, and ready for their next groom.
