Cancelling a booking

Sometimes plans change — dogs get muddy, owners get busy, life happens. Barkway makes it easy to cancel a booking while keeping your records tidy.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the booking
Head to the Bookings section and click the appointment you need to cancel. You’ll land on the View Booking page.

  2. Hit Cancel Booking
In the top-right action bar, click the red Cancel Booking button.
Barkway will ask you to confirm before it flips the status.

  3. Done — it’s cancelled

    • The booking status changes to Cancelled
    • Any linked invoice is automatically marked Cancelled
    • Existing deposits or partial payments stay untouched (no automatic refund)
  4. (Optional) Delete the booking
If no payments have been made, you’ll see an option to delete the booking completely.

    • This removes it from your history and reports
    • If any payments exist (like a deposit), deletion is blocked to keep your payment records accurate
tip

Bookings can’t be cancelled once a groom has started.
If you need to, you can reset the booking to Scheduled first — then cancel it.

Re-scheduling a cancelled booking

Changed your mind? No problem:

  • Open the cancelled booking
  • Click Edit Booking
  • Set a new start time/date and save — Barkway will flip it back to Scheduled

Extra details

  • Invoices: Auto-cancelled when the booking is cancelled.
  • Notifications: Clients aren’t notified yet (future update may add this).
  • Reports & history: Cancelled bookings still show up so your data stays accurate.

Pro tips

  • Keep cancellations instead of deleting — it’s cleaner for reporting and payment tracking.
  • Want to reuse the slot? Cancel first, then re-schedule or create a new booking there.
  • Deposits aren’t refunded automatically — handle any refunds manually if needed.

🐾 Quick, clean, and no awkward payment mess — that’s how Barkway handles cancellations.
