Viewing a booking
The View Booking page is your command centre for each appointment. From here you can see all the details in one place, start and complete the groom, manage notes, and handle invoices.
Step-by-step

Review booking details
At the top, you’ll see the appointment’s status, scheduled time, estimated length, and the assigned groomer. -
Check pet and client info
- Pet details: photo, breed, temperament, medical info, last groom date, and more.
- Client details: name, email, phone, and preferred contact method.

Add or update notes
- Pet Notes: Persist across all future bookings and live on the pet’s profile.
- Booking Notes: Specific to this appointment only.

Start the groom
Click Start Groom when the appointment begins. Barkway records the start time in the background (used later in your reports). -
Complete the groom
When finished, hit Mark as Complete. This moves the booking to Completed, records the end time, and automatically generates an invoice. Once complete, the booking is locked — you can no longer edit its core details. -
Handle invoices
After completion, the invoice panel becomes available. From here you can:- View invoice in-app
- Download PDF for your records
- Regenerate if there are issues
- Update payment status (unless it’s Stripe-managed)
If Stripe is enabled, you’ll also see a Pay by Card button so you can process payments directly.
Photos
The Photos panel lets you upload and manage images tied to the booking — like a visual portfolio for each groom.
- Upload photos from your computer, phone, or tablet.
- Browse the gallery with thumbnails, and click to view full size.
- Remove or replace any photo if needed.
- All photos stay attached to this booking, so you can revisit them later.
Use this to capture before-and-after shots, track coat condition, or just showcase a particularly great cut.

Always visible, showing what was booked, the total, and the remaining balance. -

Quick access to the pet’s history — dates, groomer, status, and notes — right at the bottom of the page. -
Automated time tracking
Barkway logs the start and completion times for every appointment, powering your reports with real-world data.
Pro tips
- Always check Pet Notes before starting — they carry forward across bookings.
- Use Booking Notes for one-offs (like “don’t forget owner is collecting early”).
- For Stripe users: let Stripe handle payment updates — it keeps everything tidy and synced.
Remember: once marked complete, a booking is locked. Double-check details before finishing.
