Set up your services
Services are the backbone of every booking. They tell Barkway how long an appointment takes and how much to charge — once you’ve added them, the calendar and invoices pretty much run themselves. ✂️
Add your first service
- Go to Settings → Services.
- Click New service.
- Enter a clear name, price, and duration.
- Decide if this is a core service or leave it as an add-on.
- Save, and you’re done.
Good practices
- Keep names simple and obvious, like Small - Full groom or Nail clip.
- Break down your offerings into logical chunks — for example, make “Teeth clean” or “Deshedding” their own add-on services.
- If your prices vary by size, create separate services (e.g. Full groom - Small, Full groom - Medium, Full groom - Large) so invoices stay clear and clients know exactly what they’re paying for.
Add-ons and extras
Want to offer something flexible that isn’t tied to a core service? You’ve got options:
- Use the pre-created Other service for odd jobs or quick extras.
- Or create your own “add-on” service with a price and duration of
0.00
.
This way you can still add it to bookings, but it won’t extend the time or affect totals unless you give it a value. - Great for Extra time charges or anything that doesn’t fit neatly into your main services.
Why it matters
Once your services are set, Barkway will:
- Calculate booking durations automatically.
- Show accurate totals on invoices.
- Apply discounts and deposits without you touching a calculator.
Next steps
With services in place, you’re almost ready to take your first real booking. Exciting times ahead! 🐾
